did not have very good slings hand bag straps. Only put them on when we needed both hands like fast roping and the such. We had a thing if we put the rifle down for some reason we had one step and a dive to get to it. Otherwise it was i our hands ready to go the sling was more in the way than a help

carried an l1a1 when i was in the royal marines only ever used a sling on speed marches but have seen pictures of people using para cord around the thin part of the butt as an improvised rear sling attachment point. As for a sling you know better than me.

You might want to contact the guys at Forgotten Weapons and InRangeTV. I know they tried out the FAL and found a few quirks with it. They might have some good insight.

Nice one for getting out there to help. I have been looking for opportunities to help in some similar way myself in Zimbabwe or SA but I suppose you need to know the right people. Most of the opportunities are aimed at different areas. The SA government have extremely strict rules about non citizens in the security sector. I assume it is SA due to the mention of the R1.

Good on you, and Billy. Man this would make a Liberals head explode, protecting rhinos and stopping poachers – with a scary rifle. A noble fight.
