The only way I have noticed bullet weight REALLY affecting anything is with guns with heavy slides and (VERY) light bullets. For instance the TP9SF has a kind of HK USP type slide in that it’s large, fairly heavy, and quite robust, but because of physics, very (very) light bullets don’t actually have enough mass/kinetic energy to reliably cycle the slide. Now when I say light bullets I’m talking less than 90 grains, I discovered this testing (thank God I tested them) HPR’S otf rounds in 9mm, they weigh in at 85 grains, and out of a Glock they are hauling ass, but they don’t have enough oomph to actuate heavy auto slides.
